Sun Tanning

Although we all like the Sun us Brits are particularily suited to become lobster coloured sun burnt as soon as the sun comes out from behind the clouds. Sun burn can cause skin cancer, so it’s best to keep children and those with pale skin out of the midday sun rays. Also, it’s worth making sure that you take enough sun cream with you (from the UK) before leaving as buying abroad could potentially leave you unprotected if you happen to buy fake sun protection products (which are unfortunately rife in some locations and can be very very hard to spot).

Health Care and Insurance

Although it’s less exotic, it’s well worth considering european locations if you have a family. They’re of course nearer, but one major benefit from 2008 onwards is that all E.U. countries (plus Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein and Switzerland) will provide free emergency healthcare for you when you visit. It’s easy to get this benefit but you must obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You can find more details on the EHIC and healthcare abroad at the Department of Health.
